Marriage and Family Therapy Practicum Student
CJ was born and raised in Sparks, was stationed in Hawaii during his time in the United States Marine Corps, and became a police officer with an agency in Texas after his time in the Marines. He relocated to Sparks with his wife and children a few years ago, continuing his law enforcement career with a local agency. CJ earned his undergraduate degree in psychology through Capella University and immediately continued into his graduate program, Marriage and Family Therapy, through the same university.
Through his prior careers, CJ has established experience working with individuals from all walks of life. He has experience managing crises and relational conflict while maintaining an unbiased perspective. CJ often uses Solution-Focused Therapy techniques to help individuals identify their strengths and resilience to foster hope and optimism about the future. He also utilizes techniques from other modalities, including narrative therapy and emotionally focused therapy, to match client needs. CJ’s goal is to help individuals rediscover their strengths and resiliency while navigating and balancing their lives.
How I Stay Healthy: In my free time, I spend time with my family, spend time with God, read, and play golf and piano. I enjoy exercising, hunting, and anything music-related.
